Other than that all zippers work Originally formed in 1918 as one of four new corps for the American Expeditionary Force, III Corps saw its baptism by fire at the Third Battle of the Aisne in May – June 1918, with its troops acquitting themselves admirable and proving their fighting capabilities to British and French commanders. The Corps would go on to take part in four more World War I campaigns, the same number that in participated in during World War II, where one of its finest moments came when it dashed north to relieve the 101st Airborne Division during the Battle of the Bulge. Today, III Corps calls Fort Cavazos home, and under its current configuration it has four of the oldest active U.S. Army formations as components: the 1st Armored Division, 1st Cavalry Division, 1st Infantry Division, and the 1st Medical Brigade. The III Corps Shoulder Sleeve insignia was initially approved for wear in the field by the Adjutant General of the American Expeditionary Force on 3 December 1918. Its official approval came nearly four years later on 17 June 1922.
