Description: Alberto Nicasio. "Alrededores de Córdoba". French-argentinean artist27 x 19 cm Nicasio was born in Orán, France, in 1904 and died in Córdoba in 1980. In 1916, he settled with his family in Córdoba and, once years later, he was able to opt for Argentine citizenship. His formal education in the arts was carried out at the Provincial School of Fine Arts in Córdoba. He took his first steps in painting, later turning to engraving. It had three marked stages: first, he incurred in Cordovan regionalist themes, followed the forms between cubists and surrealists and, finally, he explored the limits of abstraction. He taught at the Superior School of Fine Arts of the National University of Córdoba, Colegio Santo Tomás, Colegio Garzón Agulla and Provincial Normal School of Córdoba. In turn, in 1973, he was appointed delegate of the National Academy of Fine Arts for Córdoba. Among other distinctions, he obtained the Concejo Deliberante Award at the Salón de Otoño de Córdoba in 1933; the Senate of the Nation Award, in 1935; Acquisition Award at the Salón de Córdoba, in 1934; National University of Córdoba Award, in 1951; Laura Barbará de Díaz Award at the National Hall, in 1939; First Prize in the Mar del Plata Hall, in 1950 and Grand Prize of Honor, in 1957; and Medal at the International Exhibition of Brussels, in 1958.
