Description: 1942 Vintage Press Photo.Bearing Japanese markings, these fragments found by forest service men after controlling a fire in Siskiyou National Forest gave evidence of a raid by a single, small plane believed from a Japanese submarine. The composition object with a hole in it, resting on a paper match book, generated heat sufficient to burn earth (right) into slag. Left, above, is a metal fragment believed form bomb casing, dug from crater. Photo is Dated: September 15, 1942. THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC PHOTO, NOT A COPY OR SCANS.
