Description: Back in 1964 when my dad was "buying" silver dollars at the bank for $1 each, he bought a roll of these dimes from a specialist dealer when they were selling for $9 each coin! These are not the much more common proofs, these were all meant for circulation. You can find them on ebay for over $100 each graded by NGC, and you can find other pictures and info on them from the NGC website. They sat since 1964 in a plastic tube. Like the type B quarters of the era, they were likely struck from proof dies after the proof production was finished early on. Circulating coins are only struck once. Proof coins are struck at least twice. These, like the type B quarters of the era were likely all struck from proof dies after the proof quota was finished, so tho quite nice they do not look like mirrors. About 2 million of these were minted out of over 2 BILLION dimes dated 1964: richardsrooseveltreview(dot)net one in a thousand!
